Once again we have a long absence!! I have such good intentions... :)
This post is going to be about post-Thanksgiving through Christmas Eve. We had a lot of fun!
We decorated our tree the Saturday after Thanksgiving, which was really fun. We were a little nervous about how Anna would handle the tree, but she was pretty good!! We did not put any presents under the tree, but we did put up our ornaments, and she left them alone for the most part. However, we have learned that if Anna disappears for a second, that she is either a) heading for the stairs or b) in the bathroom with her hand in the toilet. Let just say that we have started time-outs. They have to sink in sometime, right? Here are some pictures of our tree decorating:
Anna is getting to be so big! She had a fun time in a VERY bubbly bathtub here:
Did you know that a laundry basket can be a very fun toy for all ages?? :)
November 30th was Lauren's birthday. She is getting so grown up, I can hardly believe it. I have had many people comment that they are surprised that she is only 3. :) She had a fun birthday--you can see in these pictures how her eyes were just sparkling the whole day. We had apple crisp, as she requested, for her birthday treat. She had a great time, as did her sisters, eating and opening presents. It was a fun day!!
Early in December our entire house but Lauren got the stomach flu. It was NOT a fun week. I don't know how Lauren escaped!! Thankfully we were staggered enough that David and I were still able to take care of everyone even though we got it too. I am glad that we got that out of the way before the holidays; I know of a lot of people who were not so lucky!!
On December 20th, Julia's school had Kindergarten Open House to celebrate and show off the gingerbread houses that they all carefully constructed the Friday before. It was fun to see a proud Julia lead us around her classroom and school. She bumped into some friends, and that was fun to see too. Kindergartners are funny. :) Julia's teacher is wonderful, and it was great to talk to her. I think Julia is quite the little helper in her room. :) Julia told us she was the LAST one done with her gingerbread house, and that Ms. Schofield called it a "Masterpiece." Her house was very cute. The "yard" was similar to one of those houses with a million gaudy lawn ornaments, but we have some time to refine her taste... :)
We had school here right through the 23rd, so Christmas Eve day was spent running around getting ready for the evening and packing for our trip to Iowa and Minnesota. We still managed to have some fun. The girls LOVED getting dressed up for Christmas. Auntie Anne got Anna a new Christmas dress--it was soooo cute. Even Anna seemed to know it was special. :) We went to church at 6:00. The girls had a great time singing their hearts out. I really couldn't stop smiling as they were singing! So special.
I will post again soon about our Christmas trip to Iowa and Minnesota, but for now, this post is long enough and David is upstairs trying to get the girls ready for bed. It sounds little wild...why do kids get hyper at bedtime??
Thanks for checking in!!
