Wow!
I can't believe that it is already almost time for school to start! Yikes! Julia is soooo ready, and I am feeling like I haven't thought about it and now it is suddenly here! We are heading to MN and IA this coming weekend and will be gone for 10 days. It will be a good trip, but when we get back, I have workshop that week! So, here we go! :) Summer has gone by so quickly. It will be nice to see the kids at school again, and I have a reduced contract this year, so I'm trying to remember that I will most likely feel a little less crazy than I did last year. We can hope anyway. At least until the baby comes!! :)
I have to write a little bit about Lauren on this post. She is suddenly doing all of these "big girl" things! Julia and Lauren share a room, and until now, their room has had bunk beds and Lauren's crib in it. Lauren had been climbing up on Julia's bed (the bottom bunk) a lot and thinking she was really cool, so we decided yesterday to cut her off cold turkey from her crib and put her on the bottom bunk! She was a little confused at first, but has successfully stayed in her bed for 2 nap times and one night. Hopefully tonight will be night #2! She is so cute and obviously proud of her "bet." This means that Julia got promoted to the top bunk. She's not sure what to think about that yet, but we haven't had any tears, so that is good. The other times we tried putting her on the top were unsuccessful, but she had the option of the open lower bunk to fall back on. I think she understands that she doesn't have that choice any more. She's been a good sport.
Lauren also has been drinking out of a "big girl" cup, and, we discovered on accident, can count to 10. That little stinker! I think she knows a lot more than we've been giving her credit for! She can also fill in many of the words to "Goodnight Moon." She says the word "moon" like "moont," which is just what David used to say as a kid. So cute. :) She is at such a fun age, and we are enjoying all of her new things.
This past week we had a really fun treat! We had quite a few visitors from MN come to see us! First, on Monday, my college roommate Sarah and her mom stopped for lunch on their way to Door County. It was great fun to have her come and see our place. Then, on Tuesday, our Green Lake Bible Camp friends Ann, Holly, Joanna, and Joanna's son Aiden came to stay for a few days. We had such a good time with them. Ann was really hoping to "make the blog," so there are a few pictures on here just for her. :) We went to the zoo on Wednesday and then up to Door County to sight-see on Thursday. (We happened to run into Sarah up there, too, so that was crazy and fun!) The evenings were spent talking and catching up, which was so refreshing. There is nothing like "old" friends who know you so well. Even when you don't see them for awhile, it seems like it was just yesterday. It made our hearts feel good. We have friends here, but none know us as well as these visitors. We so appreciated them making the trip out here. We love you guys!!
Well, there won't be any posts here now during our trip, but hopefully when we get back I'll have some fun pictures to share. We have a lot of fun places to visit!!
Thanks to everyone who keeps up with us on this blog!! :)
